Fine fleeces: Dally Meyer’s Merinos top their class
Dally Meyer continues to win wool shows with her Merino wools.
Dally entered four of her Merino ewe fleeces in the Estes Park Wool Market Fleece and Fiber Show held June 13-14, 2026, where 200 wool exhibits were competing.
There, three of her fleeces placed first, third and fourth in the fine white wool division. The first place fleece went on to win the Grand Champion white fleece of the show. Three of her fleeces competed against 19 others in the flock division and placed third.
In May, Dally’s Merino ewe fleece captured the Supreme overall fleece of the show and her ram fleece was awarded Reserve Champion at the Art in the Barn Fiber Fest in Sturgis, South Dakota.
In January, Dally brought back to South Dakota the Grand Champion Wool Fleece award from the Denver Stock Show and Rodeo. The 18 pound, 18 micron ram fleece first won the Champion Merino fleece of the show and then was selected as the Grand Champion over 170 entries.
For the past two years, Dally’s wool has won the top awards at the Newell Ram Sale.
Dally started her purebred Merino sheep flock five years ago with ewes she purchased from John Jewell of Rifle, Colorado. She has been selling her Merino fleeces to spinners across the country. Purebred rams and ewes have been sold locally.
Congratulations, Dally, on some great showings!
