Well I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July and celebrated America’s 250th birthday in style. Our country isn’t perfect, but it’s still the best on the planet. I’m sure glad I was born and raised right here.
The committee that decides such things has decided to keep the college finals in Casper, Wyo. for the next 10 years, which is good news for college rodeo.
Blunt Summer Barrel series at Blunt, S.D. will be July 8, 22, Aug. 5, 19, all starting with exhibitions at 6 p.m. Pre-enter the Monday before with Emily by text at 507-227-5900.
The 56th Annual Boss Cowman’s Days Celebration is July 8-12 at Lemmon, S.D. Besides the rodeo and other events, the town also boasts a fine museum, the petrified wood park, an art gallery and more.
Entries are open until July 8 for Buzzard Bait Bucking Ponies at Boss Cowman Days on July 10-11. Text Kerry with name, age, weight and experience level at 701-880-8372.
Broadus Summer Breakaway and Team Roping Series will be July 12, 19, 26 and Aug. dates will be added. Breakaway is first with entries at 10 and rope at 10:30. Gordon Livestock, Gordon, Neb. will have an open horse sale July 14, 2 p.m.

The Murdo Ranch Rodeo and Gumbo Ridge Ranch Bronc Ride is July 17-18 at Murdo, S.D. July 17, 7 p.m. is the ranch bronc ride. There’s $3000 added and you can enter July 10-15 with Sharon Connot 605-516-0090. July 18 is Kid’s Mini Broncs and Mutton Busting and the 17th Annual Murdo Ranch Rodeo. Bad River Youth Rough Stock series next event is July 31, 6 p.m., at New Underwood, S.D. there will be mutton busting, bull riding, barebacks, saddle broncs, and wild pony races. Well, that’s my circle for this week. Please pray for those affected by the wind storm last week. Highmore, S.D. had a wind gust of 131 mph, surrounding areas were close to that. The damage to the town of Highmore and surrounding properties is terrible. The cleanup will be an ordeal and hopefully the town can rebuild. Also pray for rain where needed as the drought continues. Please pray for our nation, our President, his family and cabinet, and for all the first responders. May God Bless America!
