Trevor Reiste riding with confidence after two round wins at RodeoHouston

Confidence leads to winning, and winning leads to confidence.

Bull rider Trevor Reiste experienced that during Super Series Two at RodeoHouston. He won the first two rounds of the set and placed in the third, hauling in $8,550 so far and leading the pack of elite bull riders in earnings.

“Doing well at a big rodeo like Houston pays off a lot,” said Reiste, 33, originally from Linden, Iowa, but now living in southeastern Oklahoma. “If I could finish strong, that would help me a ton through the rest of the season.”

Yes, it would. Contestants who win titles at NRG Stadium will pad their pocketbooks with $65,000 in addition to what they win in the rounds and semifinals. Proof of the rodeo’s value rings true with five of the nine Houston winners going on to win Montana Silversmiths gold buckles in 2025: Bareback rider Rocker Steiner, steer wrestler Tucker Allen, tie-down roper Riley Webb, breakaway roper Taylor Munsell and barrel racer Kassie Mowry.

“This has been awesome,” said Reiste, a two-time Wrangler National Finals Rodeo qualifier. “I’m just feeling good, riding good and drawing good, and now I’m ready for the semifinals.”

RodeoHouston features 40 contestants in each event and is spread over five three-round Super Series. The top four from each set advance to one of two semifinals, which take place March 17-18.

Reiste first qualified for the NFR in 2017 and finished 13th in the PRCA | Bill Fick Ford World Standings. He returned in 2024 and was 12th on the year-end money list. He has been inside the top 30 all but one year since 2016.

“We’ve got all phases, where injuries come up and just nothing seems to work,” he said. “You’ve just got to get your head right and turn things around. You’ve just got to fight through whatever comes up.”

That’s what he’s been doing. He will have a few days off before competing Friday at the Rodeo Austin Xtreme Bulls, part of the Rank 45 Xtreme Bulls Series. Reiste will then return to the Bayou City to chase the coveted championship. In between, he’ll help get things at home in order; he and his wife, India, are expecting their first child in May.

“I’ll work on my house and get everything ready there,” said Reiste, who had an 83-point ride on Cervi Championship Rodeo’s Anthrax to win the opening round of his Super Series and an 86-point trip on Cervi’s Smokin Hot to win the second round. “I’ll do some barrel drills and make sure I’m ready to get back on bulls.”
