How did you get involved in real estate?

I got into real estate a few years ago after Dax Hayden sold my grandpa’s ranch near Sundance, Wyoming. Following that, he and my dad talked about me getting into it. Later, when I went to quote some other work for Dax on his ranch, he asked when I was going to get my license and start selling for them. My grandpa traded ranches throughout his life, and I have always been interested in real estate and really enjoy helping people, so it worked out perfectly.

What is unique about working for Hayden Outdoors?

One of the most unique things about working for Hayden Outdoors is that it is a family company, but we have a big network of brokers throughout the country. We all get together once or twice a year and catch up with each other. It is great to have so many connections throughout the country and be able to work together with each other both locally and across state lines. It is exciting to work with a company that prioritizes family values and our way of life with such a large reach.

What do you want buyers to know?

I want my buyers to know that I will listen to their needs and strive to find them the perfect property for them. After we find them the perfect property, I will be there with them to assist with making the process as smooth as possible.

What do you want sellers to know?

I want our sellers to know that our marketing is first-class. We have a great team of people at the office in Windsor that support us as agents. My goal is to achieve a seamless transaction and maximize value for our sellers. I will be there with them every step of the way until we get to the closing table.

Who is a mentor or hero in real estate and life?

A mentor and hero in my life is my mom and dad, like every ranch kid, probably. Growing up on a ranch in Wheatland, they taught me my core values and instilled a strong work ethic in me. One of my mentors in real estate is Dax Hayden. It is amazing what they have built starting out as a small family brokerage and now having 200+ brokers in agents in 32 states and international listings.

What trends are you currently seeing in real estate?

Real estate changes constantly. Right now, interest rates are up, and buyers are being more selective and looking for properties that provide the most value. Sellers are more hesitant to sell because they would have a hard time replacing it, especially if they bought with low interest rates. Ranch sales are still strong, people are looking to trade ranches, and some investors are looking to move their money from things like stocks to real estate providing good demand for ranches.

What does your life look like outside real estate?

My life outside real estate involves spending time with family and roping with my wife, Nicole. She is a professional breakaway roper and we raise horses, so we rope a lot of calves, team rope and ride horses. I don’t get to team rope as much as I used to, but I still love it.

What skills best help you as a real estate agent?

The skills that help me the most as a real estate agent are perseverance, dedication and communication.  You must have good perseverance and dedication to get transactions done for your clients and get through the highs and lows of the business, which is true with any business. It is also very important to communicate with your clients and let them know what is happening with their transaction and keep them informed throughout the process.

What is most satisfying about your job?

The most satisfying parts of being a real estate agent is helping people with such a major part of their life, as well as the clients who become friends throughout the process. In this business, you get to meet so many great people and see some amazing properties. I love being able to work on the land and help people and make new contacts and friends along the way.

What is your dream property?

My dream property would be one with a house, arena and barn, and enough acreage to have some pasture for horses and calves and maybe some hay ground. I would love to find a property that would work for that and build one. I think it would be fun to build one from scratch.
