Make plans to attend the 3rd Annual Cheyenne River Roundup in Edgemont, SD, on Saturday, June 4 and Sunday, June 5. Held at the Fall River County Fair Grounds, the first round of the Ranch Rodeo will begin at 5 p.m. Saturday. The second round begins at Noon on Sunday.

The event is sanctioned by the Working Ranch Cowboy Association (WRCA) and the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA). The WRCA rodeos only include cowboys from genuine working ranches that are skilled in all aspects of ranch work. They must obtain the majority of their income from ranching activities and must be a member of the WRCA. Cowboys eligible to compete in WRCA rodeos come from all over the U.S., with one thing in common – ranching. AQHA will sponsor an award for top horse at the event.

This will be a great opportunity for folks to meet and enjoy seeing top hands in the country and get a taste of Western heritage. Rodeo events will consist of: Ranch Bronc Ride; Wild Cow Milking; Team Branding; Team Stray Gathering; and Team Sorting. Teams competing come from six states, all vying for a spot at the National Finals in Amarillo, TX.

For more information on the Ranch Rodeo, please contact Wyatt VanEaton at 605-662-7022 or JD Williams at 307-334-2545.

In conjunction with the Ranch Rodeo, a Ranch Horse Competition will be held. This event is open to all who wish to compete, and will start at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 4. Entries are limited, so please register early. For more information on the Ranch Horse Competition, contact Tim Schaack at 605-484-9714.
